Self Employed Delivery Driver

Overview
We are seeking a reliable and professional Delivery Driver to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring timely and safe delivery of building materials to our customers, maintaining excellent communication throughout the process.

A valid driver’s licence and previous delivery or commercial driving experience are preferable for this position.

Role could lead to full time permanent position and potential to offer HGV training to drive larger vehicles.

Local knowledge of routes around the Gloucestershire area is advantageous.

Location: Gloucester Area
Shift: Early Morning starts 7:15 - 7:30 am 4/5 days a week (Including Saturdays if required)
Requirements: Valid UK/European Driving License, 25+ for insurance purposes

Responsibilities

• Safely operate company vehicles, 2T, 3.5T Tipper lorries, to deliver goods to various locations around Gloucestershire
• Plan and follow efficient delivery routes to meet deadlines.
• Load and unload items, often requiring heavy lifting, ensuring items are secured properly during transit.
• Communicate effectively with customers regarding delivery times and any potential delays.
• Complete all necessary documentation accurately, including delivery receipts and logs.
• Conduct routine vehicle inspections and report any maintenance issues promptly.
• Adhere to all traffic laws and health and safety regulations during deliveries.
• Assist with yard duties when not on the road, including stock organisation

Experience

• Proven experience as a delivery driver or in commercial driving roles.
• Valid driver’s licence suitable for operating company vehicles, with a clean driving record.
• Experience with warehouse operations and heavy lifting is advantageous.
• Strong communication skills to interact professionally with customers and team members.
• Familiarity with route planning tools and GPS systems is preferred. This role requires organisational skills, physical stamina for heavy lifting, and excellent communication abilities to ensure smooth deliveries and high customer satisfaction.
• Knowledge and driving routes of the local Gloucester area would be beneficial

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: £14.00 per hour
