Senior Accountant

We are looking for a Senior Accountant who will play a key role in leading client engagements, ensuring financial integrity, and driving value-added insights beyond bookkeeping.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Control & Reporting

  • Oversee end-to-end accounting processes, ensuring accuracy of AP, AR, GL, and reconciliations across multiple client accounts.
  • Review and validate accounting entries, reconciliations, and trial balances prepared by junior staff, ensuring compliance with IFRS and UAE regulations.
  • Lead month-end and year-end closings, including accruals, adjustments, and financial reporting packs.
  • Prepare, review, and present management reports, including cash flow, expense analysis, and budget vs. actual performance.

Taxation & Compliance

  • Ensure timely VAT, Corporate Tax, and other regulatory filings, with proactive advisory to clients on compliance requirements.
  • Monitor developments in UAE tax and company law, translating regulatory changes into actionable steps for clients.
  • Support audit preparations and act as the primary liaison with auditors, ensuring all required documentation is available and accurate.

Client Advisory & Relationship Management

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned clients, providing guidance on financial matters, compliance, and process improvements.
  • Present draft accounts, audit reports, and tax filings to clients with clarity and professionalism.
  • Advise clients on financial planning, cost control, and system efficiencies, aligning with their growth objectives.

Process Improvement & Technology

  • Champion automation and efficiency by leveraging accounting systems (Zoho, QuickBooks, Tally) and advanced Excel skills.
  • Identify gaps in current workflows and implement improvements to reduce errors and enhance productivity.
  • Support the adoption of digital-first practices in line with Al Burhan’s forward-looking philosophy.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Guide and review the work of junior accountants, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and continuous professional development.
  • Share knowledge on UAE tax, IFRS, and financial best practices within the team.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, detail orientation, and client-first service.

Job Specifications

Education & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce. A professional certification (ACCA, CPA, CMA) is preferred.

Experience

  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in the UAE.
  • Strong exposure to trading, contracting, or service-based industries.
  • Prior client-facing or supervisory experience is an advantage.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in accounting software (Zoho, QuickBooks, Tally).
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS/IAS, VAT, and UAE Corporate Tax compliance.
  • Advanced Excel skills (financial modelling, pivot tables, lookups, reconciliations).

Expected Initial Salary (3 months) - AED 4,000

After 3 months - AED 5,000 + incentive percentage based on accounts serviced
