- Financial Reporting: Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including balance sheets and income statements.
- Month-End/Year-End Close: Manage and oversee the entire closing process, coordinating with other departments to ensure timely and accurate financial close.
- Reconciliation and General Ledger: Maintain the general ledger, review journal entries, and perform reconciliations for accounts and bank statements.
- Compliance and Audits: Ensure compliance with financial standards like GAAP, assist with tax filings and audits, and serve as a point of contact for external auditors.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist with the creation of budgets and financial forecasts by analyzing historical data and identifying trends.
- Process Improvement: Evaluate and improve accounting systems, procedures, and internal controls to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Supervision: Train, mentor, and review the work of junior accounting staff and bookkeepers.
- Analysis: Analyze financial information, summarize financial status, and provide variance analysis to management.
- Accounts Management: Manage accounts payable and receivable, including verifying, allocating, posting, and reconciling transactions.
Requirements and skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Several years of experience in a senior or supervisory accounting role.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and other accounting principles.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) and strong skills in Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
