JOB DESCRIPTION – Sr Accountant

Position Details:

Position Summary:
The position will primarily support Purchasing and Operations with product costing, manufacturing analysis and inventory valuation. This role will perform a variety of accounting tasks and processes critical to the operations of the company, including maintaining financial records, supporting transactions with internal stakeholders, managing bill of materials costing for all products and assisting department leaders in managing budgets. This full-time position requires a strong working relationship across multiple disciplines and levels, partnering with leaders in all departments to manage the constant flow of financial information within the organization.

The ideal person for this role is a self-starter with high integrity who can work well both autonomously and under the combined direction of the Vice President of Finance and Vice President of Operations. A successful candidate will also help us refine and expand our capabilities as we grow.

Essential Functions:
Analyze production orders, product costs, and variances.
Control and maintain Bill of Materials for all products; ensure quality of all inputs.
Assist Operations in analyzing productivity and efficiency, as related to financial performance, specifically in the areas of production yields and cost variables.
Review and reconcile inventories, analyze aging, and enter adjustments into the G/L.
Develop plans to correct problems that may include modifications to user procedures, user data entry instructions, user training, and/or workflow correction proposals.
Facilitate all general accounting procedures. Ensure financial transactions are recorded accurately and in compliance with GAAP.
Execute period close procedures, including reclassifying intercompany balances into the appropriate accounts. Make closing journal entries. Reconcile inventories and meet close deadlines.
Prepare month-end and year-end closing entries.
Assist in implementation, maintenance, and adherence to internal accounting controls.
Develop and communicate processes and procedures related to accounting transactions.
Participate in financial audit preparation and coordination.
Provides monthly department reports as directed.
Handles special projects or other assignments as designated by the senior leaders in the Finance and Accounting team.

Qualifications:
Candidates must be 21 years of age or older.
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance; strong knowledge of GAAP.
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience within a manufacturing environment; process manufacturing a plus.
General ledger accounting experience required; cost accounting experience a plus.
ERP system experience necessary (SAP ideal); Orchestrated Beer experience is ideal.
Ability to read and understand financial statements.
High-level proficiency with MS Office applications is a must, especially Microsoft Excel.
Excellent communication skills both verbal and written and the ability to multi-task and problem solve are essential.
High attention to detail and accuracy.
Exercise initiative and judgment as well as make decisions with the scope of assigned authority.
Interpret and understand policies and relate them to others.
Must be highly organized with strong attention to detail; able to work independently and as a team player.
