Position Overview

The Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing the company’s accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and effective financial controls. This role involves supervising accounting activities, supporting management with financial insights, and ensuring timely completion of month-end and year-end closing processes. The Senior Accountant works closely with management, auditors, and internal departments to maintain financial integrity and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and review all accounting transactions to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
• Prepare and finalize monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Supervise and guide junior accounting staff, ensuring proper accounting practices are followed.
• Monitor general ledger accounts and ensure timely reconciliation of bank, vendor, and intercompany accounts.
• Ensure accurate recording of revenue, expenses, accruals, and provisions.
• Manage VAT compliance, including review of VAT returns, supporting schedules, and documentation.
• Coordinate with external auditors during audits and provide required financial information.
• Review payroll entries, employee settlements, EOSB provisions, and leave salary accounting.
• Analyze financial performance, prepare variance analysis, and provide management reports.
• Ensure adherence to internal controls, company policies, and UAE financial regulations.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and cost control initiatives.
• Liaise with banks, suppliers, consultants, and internal departments on finance-related matters.
• Identify process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in accounting operations.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum 5–7 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in F&B or retail industries.
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting, accounting standards, and UAE VAT regulations.
• Experience in handling audits, financial statements, and compliance requirements.
• Proficiency in accounting software/ERP systems and advanced MS Excel skills.
• Strong analytical, leadership, and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to meet strict deadlines.
