About Us:
Thoppil jewellery is a premier jewellery retailer specializing in fine gold, diamond, and custom designs. We seek a detail-oriented Senior Accountant to manage our financial operations and ensure seamless compliance with Indian tax regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate books of accounts for all jewellery sales, purchases, inventory (including gold/silver stock valuation), expenses, and receivables/payables using accounting software like Tally or QuickBooks.
- Prepare and finalize monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including profit & loss accounts and balance sheets.
- Handle GST compliance: Prepare and file GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, and annual returns; reconcile ITC; manage input-output tax liabilities specific to jewellery trade.
- Manage TDS/TCS: Compute, deduct, deposit, and file quarterly TDS returns (e.g., on salaries, professional fees, rent); handle TCS on gold purchases/sales under Section 206C.
- Oversee income tax compliance: Prepare books for statutory audits, compute advance tax, file ITR-6 or relevant forms, and liaise with tax authorities.
- Conduct bank reconciliations, cash flow management, and inventory audits to track precious metals and finished goods.
- Prepare for internal/external audits, respond to notices from GST/Tax departments, and implement process improvements for efficiency.
- Generate MIS reports for management on sales trends, profitability, and tax projections.
- Ensure adherence to Companies Act, GST laws, Income Tax Act, and jewellery-specific regulations (e.g., HUID marking compliance).
Qualifications & Experience:
- CA Inter/CMA Inter qualified or B.Com with 5+ years of experience in accounting, preferably in retail/jewellery sector.
- Expertise in GST, TDS/TCS, income tax filings using portals like GSTN, TRACES, and Income Tax e-filing.
- Proficiency in Tally ERP, MS Excel (advanced functions, pivot tables), and familiarity with e-invoicing.
- Strong knowledge of jewellery industry accounting norms (e.g., wastage norms, making charges).
- Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet strict deadlines.
