Senior Accountant

Scope of the Position:

The Senior Accountant is responsible for managing and overseeing the accounting operations of the company within a food manufacturing environment. The role ensures accurate financial recording, monitoring of production and inventory costs, compliance with financial regulations, and preparation of financial reports. The Senior Accountant supervises the accounts team, maintains proper internal controls, and supports management with financial analysis for effective decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

Ø Manage day-to-day accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank transactions.

Ø Ensure accurate and timely recording of all financial transactions in the accounting system.

Ø Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports including Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow statements.

Ø Supervise the accounts team and ensure compliance with company accounting procedures and internal controls.

Ø Monitor production costs, raw material consumption, and manufacturing overheads in coordination with production and warehouse departments.

Ø Ensure accurate accounting of inventory including raw materials, packaging materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods.

Ø Conduct inventory reconciliations and stock variance analysis with warehouse and production teams.

Ø Perform bank reconciliations and monitor company cash flow.

Ø Oversee accounts payable and supplier payments, ensuring accuracy and timely settlement.

Ø Monitor accounts receivable and customer collections to maintain healthy cash flow.

Ø Assist in budget preparation, financial forecasting, and variance analysis.

Ø Ensure compliance with VAT regulations, tax requirements, and statutory financial regulations.

Ø Coordinate with external auditors, internal auditors, and regulatory authorities during audits and financial reviews.

Ø Maintain proper financial documentation and audit trails.

Ø Identify opportunities for cost control, financial efficiency, and process improvements within the accounting function.

Required Qualification:

· Strong knowledge of financial accounting principles and practices.

· Knowledge of manufacturing accounting and inventory cost control.

· Understanding of VAT regulations and financial compliance requirements.

· Proficiency in ERP accounting systems and Microsoft Excel.

· Strong analytical, reporting, and documentation skills.

Qualifications & Experience:

Ø Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce.

Ø Professional certification such as CPA, ACCA, CMA, or CA is an advantage.

Ø 5–8 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in food manufacturing or FMCG industry.

Ø Experience in inventory accounting, cost accounting, and financial reporting in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
