A Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing accounting operations, preparing financial reports, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and supporting financial decision-making. The role includes managing general ledger activities, supervising junior accounting staff, and ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Manage and maintain the general ledger and chart of accounts.
- Perform account reconciliations (bank, balance sheet, and intercompany).
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and company policies.
- Assist with budget preparation and financial forecasting.
- Monitor and analyze financial performance and variances.
- Support internal and external audits by preparing required documentation.
- Supervise and guide junior accountants or accounting staff.
- Ensure timely closing of monthly and yearly accounts.
- Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll review if required.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and internal controls.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Professional certification preferred (such as CPA, ACCA, or CMA).
- 5–8 years of accounting experience, preferably in a senior role.
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting, GAAP/IFRS standards.
- Experience with accounting software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle Financials, or QuickBooks).
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial analysis tools.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
