Senior Accountant

About the role

We are a commodities trading company looking for an experienced and detail-oriented senior accounts manager to oversee the full spectrum of our financial operations. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in trading-sector accounting, strong leadership capabilities, and a hands-on approach to managing complex, multi-dimensional books.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and oversee the full general ledger, including journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close processes
• Manage inventory accounting for commodity stocks, including valuation, write-offs, and movement tracking
• Handle accounts receivable and accounts payable cycles, ensuring timely collections and payments
• Prepare and review financial statements, MIS reports, and management dashboards on a monthly and quarterly basis
• Coordinate with banks, auditors, and tax consultants to ensure compliance and accurate reporting
• Supervise and mentor junior accounts staff, delegating tasks and reviewing output
• Support management with cash flow planning, budget preparation, and variance analysis

Requirements

• Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in accounting, with at least 3 years in a managerial role
• Prior experience in commodities trading, import/export, or a related trading business is strongly preferred
• Professional qualification such as ACCA, CA, or CPA is highly desirable
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g. QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle, or similar ERP systems)
• Excellent command of Microsoft Excel for financial modelling and reporting
• Strong analytical skills with close attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced trading environment
• Good communication skills for coordinating across teams, banks, and external stakeholders
