POSITION SUMMARY

As the Senior Accountant at AMIGOS, you are the guardian of our financial health. You will oversee all aspects of accounting and compliance, ensuring that our financial systems are as robust as our programs. We are looking for a dynamic professional who enjoys the "puzzle" of varied accounting assignments and is fueled by our non-profit mission. • Location: Candidate must be in Houston, TX. We work remote 90% of the time, but accountant will be responsible weekly check processing at our office.
• Salary: $75,000 - $90,000. Excellent Benefits.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Degree in Accounting
• Detail-oriented personality with high level of self-direction
• Strong Microsoft Office proficiency, especially Excel
• Ability to initiate and complete relevant tasks with minimal supervision
• Collaborates and communicates well with all departments of the organization
• Must be a quick and willing learner
• Minimum of 3 years of accounting work experience
• Familiarity with accounts receivable, accounts payable, month-end/year-end close procedures
• Knowledge of accounting software systems, preferably Abila
• Familiarity with fund accounting/Non-Profit
• Must be authorized to work in the States

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintain general ledger accounts in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Journal entry preparation, with easily auditable documentation trail
• Assists with the preparation of monthly financial statements/managerial reports
• Evaluates trends and investigates account variances
• Assist with preparation of external audits and other accounting research as needed
• Generation of AR statements and billing
• Facilitate and execute month-end close procedures
• Perform monthly cash reconciliations against company bank statements.
• Any other duties as deemed necessary
