We are now seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our team. This role is suited to a qualified or part-qualified accountant with strong technical knowledge and hands-on experience in UK accounting and tax processes. You will play a key role in managing client portfolios, reviewing work, and supporting junior staff.
Key Responsibilities:

Managing a portfolio of UK-based clients across sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies

Reviewing bookkeeping, VAT returns, and management accounts prepared by junior staff

Preparing and finalising year-end accounts in line with UK accounting standards (FRS 102 / FRS 105)

Preparing and reviewing corporation tax computations and CT600 filings
-
Preparing and reviewing self-assessment tax returns
-
Overseeing VAT compliance including Making Tax Digital (MTD) submissions

Assisting with payroll review and pension compliance
-
Liaising with HMRC on client queries and correspondence
-
Supporting and mentoring junior accountants and assistants
-
Assisting with process improvements and workflow efficiencies within the team

Learning the basics of corporation tax and self-assessment returns
Requirements:
Essential:
-
ACCA qualified or finalist (or equivalent qualification such as ACA / CIMA)

Minimum 2–4 years of relevant experience in an accountancy practice

Strong knowledge of UK accounting and tax principles
-
Experience in preparing year-end accounts and tax returns
-
Proficiency in accounting software (Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, or similar)

Strong Excel and analytical skills

Ability to manage deadlines and multiple client portfolios

Excellent attention to detail and communication skills
Desirable (but not required):

Experience working with UK-based clients in a practice environment

Exposure to cloud-based workflow tools and digital accounting systems

Experience mentoring or supervising junior team members

Knowledge of Making Tax Digital (MTD) systems and compliance processes
