Senior Accountant

Responsibilities

• Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and internal policies.
• Manage month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and ledger maintenance.
• Oversee accounts payable and receivable functions, ensuring timely processing using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or PeopleSoft.
• Conduct detailed analysis of financial data to identify discrepancies, trends, and opportunities for process improvements.
• Ensure compliance with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) controls and assist with internal audits related to financial reporting.
• Support payroll management activities utilizing systems like ADP, Kronos, UltiPro or Paychex while ensuring accuracy in employee benefits administration.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including HRIS systems management and governmental accounting requirements to streamline data entry and reporting processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA certification preferred.
• Proven experience in public accounting or corporate accounting roles with a strong understanding of GAAP and technical accounting standards.
• Demonstrated proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Quicken, Sage, PeopleSoft, or similar platforms.
• Extensive knowledge of accounts payable/receivable, general ledger reconciliation, journal entries, and double-entry bookkeeping.
• Familiarity with payroll systems like ADP or Paychex along with benefits administration processes.
• Strong analysis skills coupled with attention to detail for account reconciliation and financial reporting accuracy.
