Senior Accountant (Engineering Business)

Job Title: Senior Accountant (Engineering Consultancy – Dubai)

Position Overview:

The Senior Accountant will be solely responsible for the full spectrum of financial operations and reporting. This is a standalone role – you will be the only accountant in the company, requiring both strategic oversight and hands-on execution of all accounting functions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Full-cycle accounting including GL, AP, AR, payroll, bank reconciliations, and journal entries
• Manage and maintain accurate records in QuickBooks
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports
• Handle VAT computation, filing, and compliance with FTA regulations
• Process payroll and ensure compliance with UAE labor laws
• Liaise with auditors, tax advisors, and government authorities
• Create and monitor company budgets, forecasts, and cash flow
• Maintain fixed asset register and depreciation schedules
• Support management in strategic planning through financial analysis
• Prepare project-specific financial summaries and cost allocations
• Ensure accurate recording of intercompany and contractor transactions

Required Qualifications and Skills:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s or CPA/ACCA preferred)
Minimum 5 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in the UAE
Proficient in QuickBooks – including setup, usage, and reporting
Strong knowledge of UAE VAT regulations and compliance
Experience working independently – preferably in an SME or standalone accounting role
Excellent knowledge of accounting principles (IFRS/GAAP)
Proficient in MS Excel, and other accounting and ERP tools
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Excellent verbal and written communication in English
Familiarity with the engineering or consultancy sector is an advantage

Fluent user of QuickBooks with demonstrable hands-on experience
Have worked as a sole or lead accountant in a small to mid-sized company
Proven experience with VAT filing and financial statement preparation

Can provide professional references from prior employers
No dependability on external accountants – must be fully self-reliant

Pay: AED3,500.00 - AED5,000.00 per month
