The New Mexico Finance Authority (NMFA) in Santa Fe seeks a Senior Accountant, Internal Controls to perform advanced accounting and financial analysis involving complex reconciliations and preparation of financial statements and reports. This position applies professional judgment and technical expertise to ensure accurate financial data, compliance with GAAP, GASB, and NMFA policies, and ensures the integrity of all financial reporting. The Senior Accountant supports audit and board reporting functions, coordinates with multiple departments to ensure proper recording of financial activity, and works in collaboration with the Controller on Annual Budget, Audit, and maintenance of financial accounting systems include general ledger, payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.

Duties include financial reporting and analysis, coordinating with internal departments to ensure accurate recording of revenues, expenditures, loans and grants, and assisting in the preparation of audit schedules, materials, and responses to auditor inquires. This position will manage day-to-day accounting operations, oversee preparation of monthly and annual statements as well as maintaining accounting procedures and internal control documentation to support compliance and operational efficiency.

NMFA is a government instrumentality whose mission is to be New Mexico’s partner in building economic prosperity and stronger communities. The ideal candidate will possess a BA / BS degree from an accredited university, previous supervisory experience, and at least five years of accounting experience including governmental or fund accounting, public finance lending, or grant program accounting. Proficiency in financial software applications, spreadsheets, and enterprise accounting systems is highly desirable. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to explain complex accounting issues to non-financial stakeholders are required. The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to prioritize, plan, work quickly and accurately with data, work under tight deadlines, and prepare documentation for internal and external financial reviews.

Pay: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
