As Senior Accountant / Accounting Manager, you will help build and manage the accounting function of a growing omni-channel company. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys both hands-on accounting work and improving financial systems as a company scales. You will work directly with company leadership and will have significant ownership over financial processes. You will dive into the unique processes of each channel of business and implement efficient workflows and tools to increase accuracy and speed of financial data. You will manage one accountant and will advise on how/when accounting team needs to grow. Your CPG accounting experience and desire for constant improvement will help Calyan’s financials be timely and accurate through fast scaling.


Core Functions

  • Monthly, Quarterly, and Annual Close
  • Accrual and General Ledger Workbooks
  • Accounting Workflow/Process Management
  • Financial Statement Prep
  • FP&A Support

Duties:

  • Manage and execute the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process.
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate discrepancies.
  • Prepare journal entries and supporting documentation.
  • Monitor accounting processes and recommend improvements to strengthen internal controls.
  • Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Assist leadership with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local financial regulations.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Support the preparation of tax filings and regulatory reporting.
  • Support internal and external audit processes and provide required documentation.
  • SOP Management—maintain accurate documentation of core accounting processes included month, quarter, and annual close checklists.

Key Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
  • 5+ years of accounting experience in omni-channel CPG businesses selling through distributors, Amazon, DTC, and retailers directly.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP.
  • Experience with ERP systems.
  • Advanced Excel proficiency.

Starting Salary: $75K-$100K based on experience

Schedule: 3 days in office (Arlington, TX), 2 days optional remote, Monday - Friday

  • Paid Holidays: 10 paid holidays per year (details provided in the Employee Handbook).
  • Paid Time Off (PTO): Flexible/Unlimited PTO.
  • 401(k) Plan: Available to employees after completing 3 consecutive months of service and at least 260 hours worked. There is currently no employer match.
  • Profit Sharing Plan.
  • Health Insurance: Medical, dental, and vision coverage is available to non-seasonal full-time employees scheduled to work 30 or more hours per week. The company covers 60% of the insurance premium, with the remaining 40% covered by the employee. Coverage begins on the first day of the month following your start date.
