Senior Accountant / HR Specialist

Office Furniture Resources is seeking a Senior Accountant / HR Specialist who thrives in a hands-on, small business environment. In this pivotal position, you’ll take ownership of key accounting functions, drive process improvements, and support compliance and reporting — while also overseeing core HR responsibilities. This is a unique opportunity to grow into a future leadership role, with direct mentorship from the VP of Finance and a clear path toward advancement.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Finance
- Manage full-cycle accounting, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, journal entries, and monthly closing activities.
- Prepare accurate and timely monthly financial statements, management reports, and cash flow forecasts.
- Reconcile bank, monitor cash balances, and ensure proper fund allocations.
- Maintain the general ledger and chart of accounts in accordance with GAAP.
- Oversee sales tax tracking and filing across multiple jurisdictions.
- Support year-end closing, audits, and coordination with tax professionals.
- Continuously evaluate accounting procedures and systems for improvement and automation opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and external regulations.
Human Resources
- Oversee recruiting, onboarding, and employee file maintenance.
- Ensure compliance with HR regulations and coordinate safety and training initiatives.
- Support payroll processing in collaboration with third-party providers.
- Help manage benefits enrollment and employee communications as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 4+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a small or mid-sized company.
- HR generalist experience or interest in supporting HR-related functions.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and analytical skills.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Pay: $55,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
