Senior AI Engineer - Agentic Experience

Do you want to own problems that matter, ship fast, and build AI systems that millions of people actually use? As a Senior AI Engineer on the Agentic Experience team, you'll work directly with the Co-founder and CTO to rethink how guests and hosts interact with a platform at real scale designing multi-agent systems, handling thousands of live conversations, and pushing the frontier of what's possible with LLMs in production.

What You'll Do:

🤖 Own Entire Problem Spaces: You won't be handed tickets. You'll be handed challenges — and trusted to figure out what to build, and why.

⚡ Ship at Agentic Speed: Use tools like Claude Code to compound your throughput and take problems from idea to production, often in days.

🧱 Build Multi-Agent Systems: Design agents with tool calling, handoffs, and production evals that handle thousands of real conversations across WhatsApp, email, in-product chat, and beyond.

🔍 Work at the Frontier: Push the boundaries of what's possible with LLMs in production — no playbooks, no standard processes, just first-principles thinking.

🗣 Influence the Roadmap: Push back on what doesn't make sense. Propose what does. You'll decide what's worth building, not just how to build it.

🔗 Stitch Systems Together: Work across Kotlin/Java, AWS, Kubernetes, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, Redis, and the Model Context Protocol — introducing the right tool for tomorrow without hesitation.

The Team:

You'll join a small, fast-moving group inside a 200-person Engineering organisation, working on the most strategic parts of the platform's future. The team runs on ownership, ambiguity, and a genuine bias for impact over activity — with direct access to senior leadership and a mandate to move fast. If you've ever wanted to build things that matter without the overhead slowing you down, this is that team.

What they're Looking For:

• 5+ years of backend development experience, including ownership of systems end-to-end
• Deep fluency with AI coding tools and a clear sense of where they help and where they don't
• A track record of shipping and running production systems
• Strong fundamentals in systems design, reliability, and production operations
• A product mindset — asking "what problem are we solving?" before "what should I build?"
• Comfort with ambiguity; energised by ownership rather than direction
• Clear communicator in code, documents, and conversation
• The language matters less than the thinking (they mostly use Kotlin)
