Overview
The Franchise, Licensing & Management Sr. Financial Analyst provides financial and strategic support across the franchise, licensing and management (FLM) businesses. This role analyzes unit performance, evaluates new opportunities, builds financial models, manages reporting, and ensures the financial health of franchisees, licensing, and management partners. The analyst partners closely with finance, accounting, FLM development, operations, and legal teams.
Key Responsibilities
Franchising, Licensing & Management Responsibilities
- Analyze franchisee, management & licensee financial statements (P&Ls, balance sheets, cash flows, general ledger detail).
- Support monthly P&L variance reporting across franchise & licensing units.
- Track unit economics: AUV, EBITDA margins, labor/COGS ratios, ROI, breakeven.
- Monitor and analyze performance and identify underperforming locations and growth opportunities and partner with operations to support profitability improvement initiatives.
- Build pro forma financial models for new business opportunities and new markets.
- Review and track accounts receivable (AR) from FLM partners; support collection efforts to ensure timely payments.
- Evaluate franchisee capitalization and financial readiness and provide financial guidance for negotiations (pricing, minimum guarantees, margins).
- Conduct market, territory and white-space analysis and research to support FLM expansion.
Financial Planning, Reporting & Controls
- Convert monthly P&L reports to consistent P&L format, dashboards, and KPI summaries for FLM business lines.
- Conduct variance analysis and provide insights to leadership.
- Forecast revenue, royalties, and profitability for budgeting and strategic planning and monitor compliance with reporting requirements.
- Maintain accurate financial records for royalties, fees, AR aging, and collections.
- Conduct scenario modeling, sensitivity analysis, and risk assessments.
Business Strategy & Cross-Functional Support
- Support marketing with promotional ROI analysis and brand fund reporting.
- Assist in due diligence for new FLM partners, and markets.
- Provide tools, templates, and training to FLM on the best financial practices.
- Partner with legal contract reviews related to financial terms and obligations.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or related field.
Experience
- 5+ years in financial analysis, FP&A, franchising, licensing or consumer goods.
- Experience with franchise systems or IP licensing strongly preferred.
- Prior involvement in P&L analysis reporting or AR collections is a plus.
Skills
- Advanced financial modeling and analysis.
- Strong understanding of unit economics, royalties, MGs, and AR management.
- Ability to interpret financial statements from diverse business operators.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- High attention to detail and strong problem-solving ability.
