Job Title: Senior Analyst – Biologics & Gene Therapy (IP & FTO)
About InPhamed
InPhamed is a specialized IP consulting firm delivering high-value patent analytics, Freedom-to-Operate (FTO) assessments, and strategic IP advisory services. We work across biologics, biosimilars, vaccines, gene and cell therapies, CRISPR, and other large-molecule platforms, supporting global innovators with actionable IP intelligence.
Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Analyst to independently lead complex FTO and patent mapping projects. The role involves evaluating biosimilars, large-molecule biologics, vaccines, gene and cell therapies, and CRISPR-based products against originator and third-party patent portfolios.
You will play a critical role in delivering strategic risk assessments and launch-readiness insights to global clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end FTO and patent mapping mandates — from project scoping to final client delivery.
- Design and execute advanced patent search strategies across composition, platform, process, device, and delivery technologies in major jurisdictions.
- Conduct detailed claim mapping of originator and competitor patents to client products, including sequences, vectors, guide RNAs, formulations, and manufacturing processes.
- Assess and classify infringement risk (high/medium/low) with clear commercial implications.
- Prepare concise, decision-oriented reports, claim charts, timelines, and risk matrices supporting launch, partnering, and investment decisions.
- Analyze lifecycle management and evergreening strategies around key reference biologics, vaccines, and gene therapy assets; identify whitespace and design-around opportunities.
- Mentor junior analysts on search strategy, claim interpretation, and report writing to maintain quality standards.
- Collaborate with client legal, regulatory, and R&D teams, as well as external counsel, on FTO positions, due diligence, and IP strategy discussions.
Qualifications & Experience
- Master’s or PhD in Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biopharmaceuticals, Pharmacy, or a related life sciences discipline.
- 4–8 years of experience in patent analytics or IP consulting within biologics, biosimilars, vaccines, gene or cell therapies, or genome-editing technologies, with demonstrated FTO experience.
- Strong understanding of patent law fundamentals and advanced capability in interpreting complex claims related to large molecules, vectors, and nucleic acid-based platforms.
- Proven experience leading FTO, patent landscape, or risk assessment projects for biosimilars, therapeutic antibodies, vaccines, gene therapies, or CRISPR-based tools.
- Hands-on expertise with major patent and scientific databases such as Espacenet, USPTO, WIPO, PatSeer, Orbit, Derwent, and relevant sequence/literature databases.
- Familiarity with regulatory and IP frameworks for biologics, vaccines, and gene/cell therapies across the US, EU, and other key markets is highly desirable.
- Formal training in IP law, patent law, or regulatory affairs related to biologics and advanced therapies will be considered an advantage.
Key Skills
- Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail in multi-patent, multi-platform risk analysis.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present nuanced IP positions to senior stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple client engagements and deliver high-quality outputs within consulting timelines.
