Senior Architectural Designer

The Senior Architectural Designer (Sr. AD) works under the supervision of the Architectural Manager and plays a key role in both schematic design and construction documentation. The Sr. AD is responsible for producing and managing master construction documents and assisting with development of new product designs. The Sr. AD plays a critical role in the development, maintenance, and accuracy of construction documents and standards. This position requires advanced technical knowledge, fluency in ArchiCAD, and a strong understanding of residential construction practices. Additionally, the candidate is responsible for developing schematic design ideas for new product offerings through 3D conceptual models. This role also provides technical guidance to junior design team members and helps drive continuous improvement in drafting workflows and document standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop schematic design options utilizing 3D modeling software
  • Create preliminary exterior and interior renderings for new product concepts
  • Coordinate interactive floor plans and elevations
  • Integrate schematic designs into design development documents
  • Prepare, develop, and coordinate detailed construction drawings and technical documentation using ArchiCAD
  • Maintaining ArchiCAD office standards, templates and drafting protocols.

Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in architecture is preferred but not required. Minimum 5 years professional experience necessary.

· Prior office experience in developing residential construction drawings, extensive knowledge of residential construction and ArchiCAD are essential (5 years plus). Samples of private residential construction documents you have previously completed will be required at interview.

  • Position requires initiative, problem-solving, and the ability to work independently while managing deadlines and coordinating with team members.
  • Demonstrate the ability to independently develop and manage projects from schematic design to construction documents.
  • Deep knowledge of detailing, materials, finishes and construction methods.
  • Excellent verbal and graphic communication skills
  • Proficiency in ArchiCAD is necessary
  • Lumion modeling/rendering experience is a plus

Compensation & Benefits:

Salary is commensurate with experience. This is a full-time “exempt” position.
