Job Title: Senior Associate

Line of Reporting: Director or Assistant Director

Role Definition

A Senior Associate leads and mentors a design group and is responsible for the management of large-scale projects from bidding to delivery. Reporting directly to the Design Director or Associate Director, this team member contributes to the development of the company by supporting Associate Directors and Directors in the progressive evolution of MLD design philosophy, research activities and technical development.

Responsible for running a large project or multiple smaller project teams. Largely client facing role and responsible for overall quality and culture of the team.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Support Directors with operational responsibilities
• Contribute to preparation of bids
• Responsible for key design input at early design phases and for design leadership during the course of the project
• Contribute, from the onset of a project to the design of innovative and progressive design solutions that reconcile MLD and
• client’s goals and priorities while fostering opportunities for design excellence.
• Make appropriate value judgments with respect to corrective work that supports the design concept and performance goals of the project
• To perform and/ or direct material and building systems research and participate in the coordination and preparation of project specifications
• Set an example of leadership among team leaders
• Participate in marketing and business development

• Full knowledge of MLD standards, policies, codes and procedures and ability to transmit the same to others
• Full knowledge of Statutory Authorities requirements, knowledge of codes, regulations and submission requirements
• Ability and intent to mentor and provide support to junior staff members and help spread knowledge across the wider architectural community
• Self-learning and self-motivated individual
• Excellent command of English (written and spoken). Knowledge of other languages is an added value

Qualifications required

• Completion of five or six-year architectural degree program.
• B.Arch or B.Sc in Architecture
• Minimum 15 years post graduate experience
• UAE Society of Engineers membership
• International Accreditation (RIBA, AIA or equivalent)
• Sustainability Certification (LEED, PQP or equivalent)
