Lauber Municipal Law, LLC is seeking a qualified Senior Associate Attorney to join our Lee's Summit, Missouri team. The Position:

Successful candidates will serve as City Attorney and City Prosecutor for numerous clients. This position will require the candidate to provide advice and counsel on municipal law matters, drafting documents, legal research, and providing legal advice on complex legal issues. This position will also include attending government meetings which are often in the evenings, prosecutor dockets, and assist in occasional litigation matters.

The ideal Candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of experience in either public or private municipal practice. Qualified candidates will possess excellent personality traits that allow them to operate in a team environment and to deal with the public on a regular basis. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and situationally aware, with the ability to discern issues quickly and efficiently and confidently analyze legal questions. Current licensure in Missouri is required, and Kansas is a strong plus.

Required Qualifications:

Knowledge of:

  • State and local government law,
  • Land use law, and administrative law;
  • Robert's Rules of Order;
  • Missouri Sunshine Law;
  • Contract review and legislation

Ability to:

  • Provide professional legal services required in municipal government operations;
  • Read, interpret, apply, and explain statutes, codes, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures;
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing;
  • Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others;
  • Travel locally

Required Experience and Education:

  • Minimum of 3 years municipal law experience required;
  • 5-7 years of municipal law experience preferred,
  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited university;
  • Current license in MO required,
  • current license in Kansas a plus

Additional requirements such as successful completion of a background check, credit check or DMV (driving record) check may apply, depending on the duties and responsibilities of the position.

Salary: negotiable and based on experience and qualifications.

  • 10 hour shift
  • 8 hour shift
  • Monday to Friday
  • Some evening meetings

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $80,000.00 per year
