1. JOB DESCRIPTION & KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Senior Automation & Electrical Testing Engineer with a proven specialization in PLC, SCADA, and Substation Automation Systems (SAS). The ideal candidate will be responsible for integrating control and monitoring systems with primary electrical and electro-mechanical equipment, ensuring seamless, intelligent, and efficient operation of our electrical networks and industrial processes.
Key responsibilities include:
- SCADA/HMI System Development & Commissioning:
- Design, configure, integrate, and commission SCADA systems for HV/MV/LV substations and industrial processes.
- Develop, manage, and troubleshoot Human-Machine Interface (HMI) graphics for real-time monitoring and control of electrical systems, motors, pumps, and other critical assets.
- Integrate Intelligent Electronic Devices (IEDs), protection relays, meters, and Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) into the central SCADA system.
- PLC Programming & Advanced Logic Design:
- Program, troubleshoot, and modify PLC logic for complex control schemes, including:
- Electrical substation interlocking, auto-reclosing, and sequencing.
- Motor Control Centers (MCCs): Auto/Manual control, start/stop sequences, and interlocks.
- Pump Control Systems: Lead-lag alternation, pressure/flow control, fail-safe sequences, and system optimization.
- Motor, Pump & Drive System Automation:
- Design, implement, and test advanced control logic for motors and pumps of various sizes and applications.
- Configure, commission, and troubleshoot Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) and Soft Starters for optimized motor operation, energy efficiency, and process control.
- Develop and implement complete automation sequences for pump stations and industrial motor-driven systems.
- System Integration & Testing:
- Lead end-to-end testing of the complete automation and protection system, including Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT).
- Analyze and troubleshoot complex issues spanning SCADA software, PLC hardware, network communications, VFDs, and field equipment (motors, pumps, switchgear).
- Data Management & Industrial Communication:
- Configure and manage industrial communication protocols (e.g., IEC 61850, Modbus TCP/IP, Modbus RTU, DNP3, Profibus) for seamless data exchange between field devices and control systems.
- Ensure data integrity, reliability, and security from field devices to the control center.
2. CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS & EXPERIENCE
- Must-Have Technical Skills:
- Expert-level hands-on experience in programming, configuring, and troubleshooting PLC and SCADA systems (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Schneider Electric, etc.).
- Proven expertise in substation automation (SAS) and industrial process control system integration.
- Demonstrable experience in designing and commissioning control systems for motors and pumps, including configuration of VFDs and Soft Starters.
- Strong knowledge of industrial communication protocols, especially IEC 61850 and Modbus.
- Years of Experience: Senior-level experience (typically 8+ years) is required.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics & Instrumentation, Mechatronics, or a directly related field.
- Personal Skills: Excellent problem-solving abilities, willingness to travel to different sites, and strong communication skills for team collaboration and reporting.
