Senior Avionics Engineer

Company Introduction

Canard Aerospace is a leading aircraft systems engineering company that provides a broad range of technical and support services to the air transport community. Our focus is on avionics system upgrades and modifications that are driven to the market by new technology, performance enhancements and government mandates. Canard operates as an extension of our customer’s operation by providing integration engineering, certification services, and manufacturing services of wiring harnesses and installation kits.

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Avionics Engineer who possess experiences in avionics systems integration development and installation kits (A-kits) designing.

Job Summary

Integration of avionics systems into commercial air transport and military aircraft. Create installation instructions, engineering orders, reports for retrofit and installation of avionics LRU's (Line Replaceable Units) to interface with legacy analog systems. Designs installation kits (A-kits) to interface with existing aircraft systems. Works with production to specify and oversee accuracy of electrical conformity to design specifications. Familiarity with Collins Flight2 and/or C-130 aircraft is highly desirable.

Responsibilities
As a part of the engineering team, the individual in this position will:

  • Research and analyze job and technical requirements, including Interface Control Documents (IDCs), mechanical drawings, electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, etc.
  • Develop detailed system architectures integrating avionics from different vendors.
  • Perform aircraft surveys and collect required data.
  • Performs wire design LRU installation design
  • Create ICD - Defining the interfaces between all affected avionics systems.
  • Write Engineering Orders, create installation instructions
  • Create Manual Supplements for maintenance and operations
  • Review customer requirements and Statement(s) of Work
  • Design and/or review avionics solutions based on customer requirements
  • Support Sales & Business Development staff with proposals, technical review of customer requirements and program risk - including schedule.
  • Support certifications of avionics systems to FAA, EASA or foreign civil agencies.
  • Create Installation Data Package (Technical Data Package) to include: systems and electrical fabrication, assembly and installation drawings, master data lists, drawings and reports.

Basic Qualifications

  • Engineering degree or Certificate from Technical College:
  • 8+ years of avionics engineering with air carrier, airline, air freight operator (OR)
  • 8+ years experience designing/engineering and installation of avionics systems upgrades with an MRO or OEM
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • USA Passport, available for domestic & international travel (occasional)

Preferred Skills and Experiences:

  • Collins Flight2 and C-130 aircraft experience
  • FAA DER delegation
  • BS Degree in Engineering, Electrical or Aerospace (Avionics)
  • Technical School/College graduate in Avionics
  • Similar industry experience, especially in the avionics upgrades with new technology, such as CNS/ATM, FANS, GPS, FMS, EFB, and Performance Based Navigation.
  • Familiar with FAA and EASA civil certification process (STC)
  • AutoCAD, Creo, or SolidWorks to create mechanical designs and layouts for avionics enclosures and system integration is preferred.

Physical Demands if any:

Must be able to move around constricted spaces (aircraft survey), reasonable mobility.

Pay: $85,000.00 - $155,000.00 per year
