Senior Backend Engineer

Beyon Money is building the next generation of digital financial services in Bahrain.

We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer who can architect, build, and operate high-scale, cloud-native backend systems that power payments, wallets, onboarding, and real-time integrations across the region.

If you love solving hard engineering problems, owning services end-to-end, and working with modern stacks (Java 17+, Kotlin, AWS, Azure, Kafka, Kubernetes), this role is for you.

What You Will Do

• Build & scale Java 17+ / Kotlin microservices using Spring Boot
• Design clean APIs, event-driven flows & resilient distributed systems
• Deploy services on AWS (EKS/ECS, Lambda, API Gateway, RDS, S3) and Azure
• Work with DevOps to build CI/CD pipelines & automated delivery workflows
• Implement observability (Grafana, ELK, CloudWatch), security (OWASP, OAuth2/JWT), and compliance-ready architectures
• Design data models (Postgres, MySQL, MongoDB) & asynchronous pipelines (Kafka, SQS, RabbitMQ)
• Lead production troubleshooting, debugging, and root-cause analysis
• Collaborate closely with product, QA, DevOps & compliance teams

What You Bring

• 8+ years backend engineering experience
• Strong Java 17+ AND Kotlin development experience
• Deep expertise in Spring Boot, Spring Cloud & microservices
• Cloud-native engineering with AWS (must) and Azure (must)
• Kubernetes (EKS), Docker, and CI/CD experience
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, caching, resilience patterns
• Messaging experience: Kafka (preferred), SQS, RabbitMQ
• Strong security engineering mindset (OWASP, OAuth2, JWT)
• SQL + NoSQL design (Postgres, MySQL, DynamoDB)

• Fintech/payments/wallets experience
• CQRS, Event Sourcing, Saga orchestration
• Terraform, GraphQL, Serverless (Lambda)
• Experience with high-volume, low-latency systems
