Role Summary:
We are seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Senior Bookkeeper to join our dynamic finance team. Duties:
- Manage and perform general ledger accounting, including journal entries, account analysis, and account reconciliation to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data
- Conduct balance sheet reconciliation regularly to verify asset, liability, and equity accounts align with supporting documentation
- Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring timely payments and collections while maintaining detailed records
- Prepare and review financial reports, including statements that adhere to GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) standards
- Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, Quicken, or similar platforms to record transactions and generate reports
- Perform bank reconciliations and ensure proper debits & credits are applied in accordance with double entry bookkeeping principles
- Support payroll processing, tax filings, and governmental accounting requirements as needed
- Assist with budgeting activities and provide detailed account analysis to support financial decision-making
- Maintain accurate documentation of all journal entries, adjustments, and audit trails for internal review or external audits
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in corporate accounting or non-profit accounting environments with a strong understanding of GAAP standards
- Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, Quicken, or equivalent tools is essential
- Demonstrated expertise in general ledger accounting, balance sheet reconciliation, bank reconciliation, and account analysis
- Knowledge of governmental accounting practices and tax experience is a plus
- Strong understanding of financial concepts including debits & credits, double entry bookkeeping, journal entries, and financial report writing
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail; ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently
- 10 key typing skills for accurate data entry and quick processing of large volumes of information
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment
