Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Bookkeeper with a strong background in public accounting. This role requires managing a portfolio of U.S.-based clients, overseeing full-cycle bookkeeping, and ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting.
The ideal candidate is confident working independently, comfortable engaging with clients, and capable of reviewing and improving existing processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee bookkeeping for a portfolio of clients across various industries
- Perform and review complex bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations
- Maintain and review general ledger accuracy and integrity
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes
- Prepare and review monthly management accounts and financial reports
- Lead month-end and year-end close processes
- Identify and resolve discrepancies, ensuring high-quality financial data
- Serve as a key point of contact for client queries and provide professional support
- Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and firm standards
- Review junior team members’ work (if applicable) and provide guidance
- Recommend and implement process improvements and efficiencies
- Maintain accurate documentation and audit-ready records
Requirements
- 5+ years of bookkeeping experience, preferably within a public accounting firm
- Proven experience managing multiple clients simultaneously
- Strong experience working with U.S.-based clients
- Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP
- Advanced proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks Online, Xero)
- Strong Excel skills (including data analysis and reconciliations)
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving ability
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a remote environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred (Advantageous)
- Relevant accounting qualification
- Experience in a CPA firm environment
- Exposure to U.S. tax and/or audit processes
- Experience mentoring or reviewing junior staff
- Familiarity with cloud-based accounting and workflow tools
