Overview
Under limited supervision, provides business analysis, analytical, and software testing support to the corporate user base. Works closely with ITS personnel and business users in the development and implementation of information technology initiatives that support the strategic objectives of the Corporation. Assists the business users with analyzing business needs, developing detailed requirements and validating solutions. Provides an effective liaison between the business departments and other ITS personnel or external vendors providing software services.
This classification is distinguished from the Business Analyst job classification by the years of professional experience as well as increased scope, variety and complexity of work assignments, application analysis and leadership responsibilities. This position also has the responsibility for mentoring Business Analysts and supporting them in project management activities.
Major Areas of Accountability
- Documents information requirements and needs of information technology initiatives.
- Evaluates business objectives that require new systems or enhancements to existing systems.
- Provides analytical support to business users and other ITS personnel to both determine specific problem areas and identify possible solutions.
- Defines work processes and plans and/or actions to be performed after discussing with user management.
- Develop and utilize a structured process for the design, development, testing and deployment of all corporate systems.
- Defines with software developers the architectural elements to meet user requirements.
- Develops and documents test procedures and/or test scripts for new systems or changes to existing systems.
- Develops training requirements for the delivery of all system projects to include "train the trainer" requirements and the necessary training materials.
- Continues professional development through attendance at training sessions and professional seminars to incorporate recent technical developments into work unit operations.
- Reviews and studies instructional and informational material to enhance/increase knowledgebase of systems and procedures within the work unit.
- Performs other related duties of a comparable level/type as required.
- Mentors Business Analysts in ITS procedures and business processes and procedures.
- Develops information systems strategies with business users, defines business objectives, and identifies cost/benefit impact to the company of proposed projects
- Provides recommendations to management on optimized business flows and software solutions.

Education and Experience
- Education Required
- A Baccalaureate degree or CPCU preferred
- CBAP (Certified Business Analyst Professional) designation preferred
- Experience Required
- Experience in the utilization of structured systems development processes required
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a business analyst in an actual Business Analyst position
- OR
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience with LWCC core systems as a “Power User” AND 3 years in a technical role that is a liaison with IT
- Must have experience leading groups, meetings, training sessions, and/or small projects
- Experience with formal project management processes and business process redesign initiatives preferred
- Experience with Agile Methodology preferred
