Providence Mutual is seeking candidates for a Senior Business Development Manager for the New Hampshire & Maine territory. This role is responsible for managing business development within an assigned territory by partnering with existing agents, appointing new ones, and acquiring and retaining profitable new accounts, while securing better penetration in our agent’s offices. The Business Development Manager will serve as the field salesperson and be responsible for identifying new opportunities, cultivating relationships, and providing strategic direction to execute growth strategies consistent with the plan of Providence Mutual.
This individual will have the opportunity to own, drive and evolve the marketing tactics in an assigned territory. The BDM will partner with department leadership to create and execute a multi-year territory plan which addresses competitive product, pricing, and distribution needs. The position will require a deep understanding of our insurance products and how they are used within the agencies we serve. A strong understanding of the regulatory environment that governs these solutions as well as being a subject matter expert in Personal and Commercial lines Insurance is very important.
The ideal candidate has a successful track record of working in close partnership with New Hampshire & Maine independent agents.
Major Areas of Responsibility
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Business, Insurance, or related field
- Continuing education in CPCU, CIC, IIA, or related insurance disciplines
- Minimum 5 years of insurance industry experience including experience in marketing, underwriting, or claims with exposure to the independent agency environment
- Valid driver’s license in good standing
- Knowledge of the property and casualty insurance industry, products, and key competitors
- Comprehensive knowledge of and ability to effectively market PMF Insurance's capabilities, services, and competitive advantages
- Sales, business and financial acumen; understands business objectives and responds to related issues, concerns, problems; can act in a decisive manner to achieve financial objectives.
- Has superior negotiation & sales abilities with positive outcomes.
- Proven ability to identify and develop opportunities for business growth and profitability
- Proven ability to motivate others to seek opportunities and innovative approaches
- Superior verbal and written communication skills and the ability to use them to influence others and facilitate action
- Ability to understand financial reports including budgetary guidelines and project expenditures
- Analytical, problem solving, decision making, quantitative reasoning and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to develop and maintain relationships with agents and other departments and must also exemplify superior teamwork.
- Organization and time management skills; ability to manage complex workloads and multiple tasks, prioritize and work effectively in a decision-oriented environment; take responsibility for decisions and actions.
- Computer literacy is required. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to work with multi-faceted systems.
