Position Summary

The Senior Buyer is responsible for managing the procurement of raw materials, components, equipment, and services to support manufacturing operations. This role leads global sourcing initiatives, develops strategic supplier relationships, and negotiates high-value contracts to ensure cost competitiveness, quality, and supply-chain reliability. The Senior Buyer works cross-functionally with engineering, production, quality, and finance teams to optimize sourcing strategies and support overall business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Sourcing & Procurement

  • Lead global sourcing initiatives to identify, evaluate, and qualify suppliers across international markets.
  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies to reduce costs, improve quality, and mitigate supply-chain risks.
  • Manage RFQs, bids, and supplier selection processes for raw materials, components, and capital equipment.

Negotiation & Supplier Management

  • Lead complex, high-value contract negotiations, ensuring favorable pricing, terms, and long-term supply agreements.
  • Build and maintain strategic supplier partnerships, including performance reviews and contract compliance.
  • Conduct regular supplier evaluations, scorecards, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Manufacturing & Technical Collaboration

  • Partner with engineering and production teams to define specifications, support new product introductions (NPI), and resolve supply-related issues.
  • Understand material requirements planning (MRP), bills of materials (BOM), and manufacturing workflows to ensure procurement aligns with production needs.
  • Support cost-reduction and value-engineering projects.

Inventory & Supply Chain Management

  • Monitor inventory levels, lead times, and demand forecasts to ensure material availability.
  • Identify and manage supply risks, including alternative sourcing and contingency planning.
  • Work with logistics teams to optimize freight, delivery schedules, and international shipping compliance.

Data Analysis & Reporting

  • Analyze market trends, commodity pricing, and global economic factors impacting cost and supply.
  • Prepare procurement reports, cost-saving metrics, and sourcing analyses for leadership review.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing data in ERP/MRP systems.

Compliance & Ethics

  • Ensure all purchasing activities adhere to company policies, industry regulations, and ethical sourcing standards.
  • Support audits, documentation requirements, and compliance with import/export regulations.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field
  • 5–8+ years of progressive purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated success in global sourcing, international supplier management, and contract negotiation.
  • Strong understanding of MRP systems, BOM structures, and manufacturing processes.
  • Advanced negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
  • Professional certifications (CPIM, CPSM, CPM) preferred but not required.
  • NetSuite experience a plus

Pay: $100,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
