The opportunity
At Leighton House, we are driven by a genuine commitment to resident dignity, compassion, and improving lives. We're looking for an experienced, values-led Senior Carer to help lead our close-knit team; someone who wants to make a real difference and ensure service users are always at the heart of our care delivery.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you will provide care in accordance with current best practices under the direction of the registered nurse. You will help shape our culture during the night hours, drive quality, and ensure no one is discriminated against or excluded. You will have the space to lead properly, supporting a team that strives for quality in everything we do.
What you'll be doing
- Providing leadership to the care staff and supervising the efficient running of the service at night.
- Overseeing staff providing people with support as they accomplish daily tasks, including bathing, eating, dressing, grooming and using the bathroom.
- Monitoring the wellbeing of each service user, updating care records to reflect any variations, and communicating changes to the registered nurse.
- Dispensing medication following the service’s policies and supporting service users with their medication requirements.
- Acting as a key contact point for families and professionals, ensuring any reasonable requests are acted upon and concerns are escalated.
- Organising supervision and appraisals for care staff , alongside rota planning to ensure adequate staff on duty with the correct skill mix.
- Auditing care records following company policy to ensure compliance.
What we're looking for
- Vocational qualification Level 3 Health and Social Care.
- Previous experience of working in a similar role and environment.
- Experience of working with service users, particularly those that may have additional support needs.
- Good written and verbal English skills , with the ability to communicate effectively with the multidisciplinary team, service users, and their families.
- A compassionate problem-solver who can adapt to situations quickly and plan approaches to promote health and wellbeing.
- A leader with the ability to induct and orientate new employees to the job role.
Ready to lead with purpose?
At Leighton House, you won't be a number - you'll be the heart of our home during the night. If you're a compassionate leader who wants the autonomy to do things properly and understands person-centred care, apply today. We review applications as they arrive, but as a small family run business it may take some time for us to get back to you.
