About the Role

We’re hiring a Marketing Manager – Textured Hair Category to lead the strategy, performance, and daily execution for SON’s largest and most iconic business segment. This portfolio is the heart of SON and consists of:
  • African Pride
  • Just For Me
  • Darling
  • Motions
  • ProLine
  • Soft & Beautiful
  • TCB
  • Elasta QP
  • Dream Kids
This is a high-impact individual contributor role responsible for driving category strategy, shaping brand narratives, leading GTM execution, and partnering with Sales, Digital, Creative, and Innovation to grow the textured hair category. You will report to the Head of Marketing & Growth and collaborate closely with the Chief Commercial Officer.


What You’ll Lead

CATEGORY STRATEGY
Own category strategy for African Pride, Just For Me, Darling, and Legacy Brands
Bring SON’s message pillars to life: Science × Results, Access & Value, Culture-Led Design
Build culturally resonant, insight-led category plans
PORTFOLIO MANAGEMENT
Lead annual planning and category architecture
Modernize packaging, claims, product communication
Optimize SKU mix, assortment, and channel strategy
GO-TO-MARKET (GTM) EXECUTION
Own GTM plans across Retail, OTC, eCommerce, and International
Develop compelling retailer sell-in stories and category narratives
Guide creative needs with Creative Services
CROSS-FUNCTIONAL PARTNERSHIP
Work with Sales to strengthen distribution and productivity
Partner with Digital Commerce to improve PDP content, SEO, ratings, and retail media
Collaborate with Innovation & CMI on claims, insights, and concept development
Work with Marketing PMO to ensure workflow governance and timeline discipline
PERFORMANCE & ANALYTICS
Analyze POS trends, category performance, sentiment, pricing, and share
Identify growth drivers and risks; create corrective plans
Present category performance to senior leadership


What We’re Looking For

Experience
7+ years in Brand or Category Management (CPG or Beauty preferred)
Experience with textured haircare or multicultural consumers
Demonstrated success leading cross-functional initiatives
Skills
Strategic thinker with sharp execution discipline
Strong communicator with cultural fluency
Insight-driven decision-making
Ability to influence across teams
Skilled in storytelling and retailer communication
