The Senior / Chief Consultant in Emergency Medicine is responsible for delivering advanced clinical care while providing overall leadership and strategic direction for the Emergency Department. This role combines high-level clinical expertise with administrative and operational oversight to ensure the delivery of safe, efficient, and high-quality emergency services in line with international standards.
Key Responsibilities :
Clinical Responsibilities
- Provide expert diagnosis, treatment, and management of emergency and critical care patients
- Lead the management of complex, life-threatening, and trauma cases
- Oversee triage processes and ensure timely patient care and flow
- Supervise and support junior doctors, residents, and clinical staff
- Ensure accurate clinical documentation and adherence to treatment protocols
- Participate in on-call duties and emergency response
Leadership & Administrative Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all clinical and operational functions of the Emergency Department
- Develop and implement departmental policies, protocols, and strategic plans
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, accreditation standards, and quality benchmarks
- Manage staffing, scheduling, and performance evaluation of medical staff
- Drive quality improvement initiatives, audits, and patient safety programs
- Coordinate with hospital leadership and other departments for efficient operations
- Oversee emergency preparedness and disaster management planning
- Represent the department in executive and clinical governance meetings
Academic & Training Responsibilities
- Mentor, train, and develop junior physicians and medical staff
- Participate in teaching programs, workshops, and continuous medical education
- Contribute to clinical research and evidence-based practice initiatives

Qualifications & Experience
- Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent)
- Board certification in Emergency Medicine (e.g., Arab Board, UK CCT, American Board, or equivalent)
- Minimum 12–15 years of experience in Emergency Medicine
- At least 3–5 years in a senior leadership or Head of Department role
- Proven experience in both clinical practice and departmental management
- Valid medical license as per country regulations
