Senior Civil Structural Engineer

Gulf Base Buildings Construction Co. W.L.L. is seeking a Senior Civil/Structural Engineer to lead the structural design, analysis, and review of building construction projects. This role is responsible for ensuring structural integrity, compliance with codes, and providing technical solutions for complex structural challenges. The position reports to the Projects Director or Engineering Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the structural analysis and design of reinforced concrete, steel, and composite structures for commercial and residential buildings.
• Prepare and review structural calculations, design reports, and detailed construction drawings.
• Perform structural assessments of existing buildings for renovations or expansions.
• Coordinate with architects, MEP engineers, and other project stakeholders to integrate structural systems.
• Review shop drawings, material submittals, and method statements from contractors for structural compliance.
• Provide technical guidance and support to site teams to resolve structural issues during construction.
• Conduct site inspections to verify construction aligns with structural design and specifications.
• Ensure all designs comply with Kuwaiti building codes, international standards, and project requirements.
• Mentor and supervise junior engineers and drafters within the engineering team.
• Utilize structural design and analysis software to model and verify designs.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering; Master’s degree is preferred.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent (e.g., CEng, P.Eng.) is required. Kuwait Society of Engineers (KSE) membership is a strong advantage.
• Minimum of 8 years of proven experience in structural design for building construction, specifically in the Gulf region.
• High proficiency in structural analysis and design software (e.g., ETABS, SAP2000, SAFE, STAAD.Pro, Revit Structure).
• In-depth knowledge of Kuwaiti building codes, international standards (ACI, AISC, BS), and seismic design principles.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; Arabic is a plus.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and mentor junior staff effectively.
• Willingness to visit construction sites as required.
