Senior Civil/Structural Designer

Overview
BHP Engineering & Construction LP is hiring a Senior Civil/Structural Designer with 15+ years of experience in heavy industrial, petrochemical, or refinery design. This position requires someone capable of producing and checking complex drawings with precision and ensuring conformance with project and client standards. Ideal candidates will possess excellent communication skills, a keen eye for detail, and a passion for innovative design solutions.

Your expertise will drive the creation of detailed drawings, schematics, and 3D models that translate complex concepts into tangible designs. Duties

• Develop and review civil and structural drawings: foundations, steel framing, and site grading layouts.
• Check design drawings and 3D models for accuracy, consistency, and constructability.
• Work closely with engineers and multi-disciplinary teams to resolve design issues.
• Support field walkdowns, redline incorporation, and as-built updates.
• Mentor junior designers and uphold internal QA/QC practices.

Experience

• 15+ years of industrial, refinery, or petrochemical design experience.
• Proficient in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and/or CADWorx.
• Solid knowledge of steel and concrete detailing, foundations, and site civil design.
• Familiar with ACI, AISC, and ASCE standards. Knowledge of industry standards related to safety regulations and building codes is essential.
• Experience in mechanical design or graphic design enhances versatility in multidisciplinary projects.
• Demonstrated ability to interpret technical drawings and collaborate effectively with diverse project teams.
• Associate degree or technical diploma in drafting/design.
• Experience with LiDAR modeling or survey data integration.

A background in interior or mechanical design is advantageous but not mandatory.
