About Us

The Division of Rehabilitation and Liquidation (Division) is one of 13 divisions within the Florida Department of Financial Services. It serves as the Receiver of insurance companies that are placed in receivership, primarily for purposes of rehabilitation or liquidation. Under an order of rehabilitation, the Receiver seeks to remedy the problems that resulted in the company being placed into rehabilitation. In liquidation, the Receiver collects all assets of the company and ultimately distributes the available assets to claimants under a statutory prioritization. In both instances, the Receiver is responsible for conducting business on behalf of the company that has been placed in receivership. This process entails providing an array of services which include Accounting, Administrative Services, Asset Recovery, Claims, Estate Management, Information Technology, and Legal functions.

Position Summary:

The Division is seeking a Senior Claims Adjuster. The role ​independently processes and resolves complex insurance-related claims against companies in receivership. The duties and responsibilities are listed below.

  • Reviews complex claims records and prepares reports as needed to assist in the collection of reinsurance, subrogation and salvage.
  • Monitors legal issues and claims litigation for companies in receivership and assists Division attorneys including attending court proceedings and mediations.
  • Reviews complex claim and company policy files.
  • Performs claims inventory tasks.
  • Authorizes receivership claims within the assigned authorization level.
  • Maintains electronic and hard copy files.
  • Responds to complex consumer requests and inquiries.
  • Processes new and existing claims.
  • Receives and processes proof of claim forms.
  • Evaluates receivership claims and prepares court reports.
  • Coordinates receivership claims with guaranty funds.
  • Coordinates receivership claims with third party administrators.
  • Recommends resolution of claimant objections.
  • Provides case-support including correspondence, filing, and report generation.
  • Performs specialized tasks, such as, project planning, data analysis and data testing.
  • Performs travel as required.
  • Coordinates claims activities onsite and assists in the preparation of management reports.
  • Monitors claims data for quality and consistency.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Salary Range:

The hiring salary range for this position is$65,000 - $80,000 per year.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and three years of professional experience as a claims adjuster and possession of a State of Florida ALL Lines Adjuster license or its equivalent issued by another state, or
  • One year as a Claims Adjuster with the Receiver, or
  • Professional experience as described above may substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
