Senior Cloud Security Engineer

Job Purpose: Microsoft Cloud Security Analyst Level III

The core mission of the Microsoft Cloud Security Analyst Level III is to provide technical leadership for our security team to design, create, deploy and maintain Office 365, Azure cybersecurity infrastructure for our security and support clients' security projects. Activities include security deployments for new clients against our baseline security standards, implementation of new security standards such as CMMC for Microsoft commercial and AOS-G clients, development of new security approaches and threat hunting and remediation activities.

You’ll work in a team environment exchanging different approaches to security threats and implementing proactive changes to our clients' environments. This includes maintaining a secure Azure and on-premises environment for our clients using KAMIND and Microsoft security solutions, development of new security related product offerings and technologies, improvements to overall security processes, design and implementation of automation pertaining to the deployment of security products, as well as any related documentation, KBs and client-facing material. This is a full-time job reporting directly to the Chief Technical Officer (CTO).

Responsibilities and Duties

Maintain a relevant technical understanding of Microsoft security products including the Microsoft Defender product suite, Azure Sentinel, Azure Security Center, Microsoft Defender for Cloud and utilize this knowledge to maintain an overall secure infrastructure.

  • Stay current on industry trends, attack and response techniques, and security tools
  • Assist with the development of security recommendations surrounding the design and implementation of security resources and tools
  • Deployment of security products to our security client base
  • Validate, maintain, and perform auditing of our security client customer base
  • Assess and react to security alerts and investigations, determine the risk involved, and take appropriate actions in a timely and ordered manner
  • Make suggestions and maintain industry related compliance for our clients that have compliance needs
  • Analyze risk and make prioritized suggestions based on identified risks
  • Assist with threat protection and hunting
  • Develop and maintain Microsoft Windows 11 and Server 2022 hardening guidelines in Azure
  • Assist with developing security related goals and ongoing strategy and integration with existing infrastructure
  • Prepare technical and executive weekly/monthly/quarterly summary reports and metrics
  • Implementing automation to build a stronger defense
  • Assist with managing, maintaining and hardening FortiGate firewalls internally and for clients
  • Working with scripting languages such as Python and KQL
  • Project and design documentation as well as KBs and client facing documentation/collateral
  • Writing of technical BLOG postings related to security
  • Customer interaction and meetings to determine needs and requirements
  • Travel to customer locations as necessary

  • Acquire and maintain necessary and relevant Microsoft certifications

Qualifications and Skills

This position requires in-depth knowledge of Information Technology security standards and best practices. The ideal candidate will have previous hands-on IT security experience, deploying security related tools and infrastructure, monitoring and remediation of security threats, and threat hunting skills.

  • The successful candidate must be a US citizen for the job requirements (US DOD requirement).
  • This is an in-person position in our Lake Oswego office.
  • This position requires in-depth knowledge of information technology security standards and best practices using the NIST framework
  • The ideal candidate will have Microsoft Security certifications which includes AZ500, MS 500, SC 100, SC 200, SC 300 and SC400
  • AZ 104 certification highly desirable.
  • Previous hands-on IT security experience, deploying Microsoft Defender security tools and Azure Sentinel SIEM
  • Experience with Azure desktop and virtualization.
  • Experience with security related tools and infrastructure, monitoring and remediation of security threats, and threat hunting skills.
  • Incident response experience required.
  • Applicants should be comfortable talking about all aspects of IT related security.
  • Good communications skills required. Must be fluent in English - verbally and written skills a must.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college/university
  • Experience with Information Governance and Information Security Strategy plans, and assessments using industry framework. CMMC, ISO, NIST, SOC-2, PCI, HIPPA knowledge required
  • Strong Change Management experience preferred
  • Advanced written and verbal communication and presentation skills, teamwork and client service skills

  • All aspects of the environment and deployment must also be documented for support and future implementations.

Must have 2+ years of experience related to IT security. Microsoft certification is a requirement. If you do not have the following Microsoft certifications, do not apply. The minimum certification required for this position is AZ-500, and one of the following (SC 100, SC 200, SC 300 or SC 400). Experience in an MSP/MSSP or other IT company is highly desirable. Annual background checks are performed due to the security requirements of our work.
