Primary Purpose
Responsible for leading, planning, coordinating, and completing operations and maintenance tasks/projects related to gas compressors and related mechanical equipment (mechanical and Instrumentation) at a gas storage facility. This position requires the incumbent to work independently with minimal supervision, work other than normal work hours, respond to call-outs, and may be subject to shift assignments.
Duties and Responsibilities
Performs and monitors preventative maintenance.
Troubleshoots mechanical problems.
Evaluates and optimizes mechanical efficiencies.
Plans and executes upcoming projects and tasks.
Manages, coordinates and communicates with vendors, contractors, etc. to optimize production of therental of equipment, ordering material or parts and scheduling work repairs.
Completes and coordinates required paperwork: reports, requisitions, Maximo, etc.
Train other compressor technicians, both on technical and company administrative and operation policiesand procedures.
Performs other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties).
Required Qualifications
H.S. Diploma/GED
Technical/Vocational Technician’s or industrial degree or certification or equivalent combination of education and experience.
5+ Related experience in gas compression and instrumentation.
2+ Experience with electronic maintenance scheduling program.
Possess in-depth knowledge of mechanical and instrumentation principals. Advanced
Possess strong troubleshooting skills. Advanced
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, one-line diagrams, piping alignment sheets, etc. Advanced
Ability to complete tasks and assignments in a safe and environmentally responsible manner including ensuring proper handling and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous waste. Advanced
Possess intermediate level proficiency in Microsoft applications (Excel/Word/Outlook) specifically for the purposes of word processing, spreadsheet applications, and information retrieval. Intermediate
Ability to maintain detailed records to ensure compliance with all Company policies as well as all local, state, and federal regulations. Advanced
Possess strong verbal and written English communication skills. Advanced
DOT Requirements - The U.S Department of Transportation (DOT) and Sempra US Gas Power have adopted regulations governing the control of drug use by persons in certain job classifications.
This position is subject to the Federal Pipelines Regulation; and is stipulated in the 49 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) part 40that requires drug and alcohol testing and must meet the testing standards.
