As a Senior Construction Manager, you will manage a team of Construction Managers, providing guidance and support to achieve collective team goals, build objectives, cycle times, quality standards, and individual goals. You will also be responsible for overseeing and managing construction projects. Your role is critical in driving successful project outcomes and ensuring the continued growth and excellence of the construction team.
Primary Duties:
- Lead and supervise a team of construction managers, assistant construction managers, and trade contractors
- Foster a collaborative and positive work environment to maximize team efficiency and maintain company culture
- Work closely and communicate with Director of Construction on a regular basis
- Always maintain a positive attitude and professional appearance
- Perform regular quality walks of each project in your assigned area
- Collaborate with construction managers to ensure efficient resource utilization
- Provide training, guidance and support to construction managers reporting to you
- Monitor construction quality by walking through homes daily
- Conduct pre-construction, frame tour, progress tour, and homeowner orientation meetings, with homeowners
- Build homes using predetermined schedules and Daily methods
- Build homes following Destination Homes processes and practices
- Build homes using Trade Partner scope of work and documents
- Organize and schedule trades holding them accountable to budget, timeliness, and quality
- Deliver a clean and complete product on schedule, within budget, and per specification
- Ensure onsite safety, of homes by following company safety program
- Ensure the cleanliness of homes and jobsite
- Complete and sign off, all walkthrough and punch lists
- Produce and update weekly reports
- Sign off on and issue variances for work and purchase orders
- Maintain excellent customer relations through exceeding expectations and proactive weekly communication
- Protect and follow Destination vision, values, and culture
- Assist in recruiting new trade contractors
- Share ideas and opinions on processes for continued improvement
- Follow and manage all applicable SWPPP requirements
- Proactively solve field issues as needed
- Attend and participate in all meetings as necessary
- Collaborate and work with other departments
- Build and maintain strong relationships with trades, employees, inspectors, cities, developers, and vendors
- Support Warranty on completion of work as needed
- All other duties as assigned
Experience & Skills:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management (preferred)
- 2+ years proven experience in residential production construction management, with a focus on leadership
- Must have strong interpersonal skills with good verbal and written communication while working in a team environment
- Lead proactively rather than manage reactively
Physical Requirements:
- This position requires frequent walking, standing, and climbing stairs in/around construction site, apartment homes, models, and properties.
- This position requires working outdoors in all weather conditions (to include but limited to, rain, snow, heat, hail, wind, and sleet), around hazardous chemicals, dust, dirt, and other particulates.
- Must have the ability to read and comprehend large quantities of information, operate computer equipment, speak, hear, bend, stoop, reach, lift, move, and carry up to 60 lbs. independently.
- Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, reach, and move about office setting.
