earns a competitive salary of
$87,130.29-$111,091.12/per year based on experience and qualifications

A DAY IN LIFE AS A SR. CONSTRUCTION MANAGER
Duties And Responsibilities
The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary. These essential functions require presence in the workplace on a regular basis and regular attendance must be maintained.
Essential Functions
Exercises direct supervision over construction management staff, consultants, contractors and/or support staff, as assigned throughout the construction phase.
Directs the work of construction projects within the Engineering Division to include the construction of streets, storm drains, parks, traffic control systems, water and wastewater facilities and other Capital Improvement Program (CIP) projects.
Provides direction and management for multiple large and complex Public Work, Construction and CIP Projects. Ensures on-schedule completion within budget in accordance with contract documents and local, State and Federal laws and regulations.
Performsdifficultandcomplexfieldassignmentsinvolvingthedevelopment, execution, supervision, and coordination of all aspects of a construction project.
Applies judgment on construction related problems and trouble shoots to expedite execution, completion, and closeout of projects.
Monitors the performance of materials testing technicians, inspectors, and other professionals contracted by the city to ensure work efforts are conducted in accordance with standard specifications.
Monitors the progress of work by contractors for the purpose of reviewing and approving monthly progress payment applications.
Conducts progress meetings with project stakeholders including end-user departments, consultants, contractors, subcontractors, and external entities/agencies to provide direction & policy interpretation for assigned projects.
Contract administration, including negotiating and issuing change orders; reviewing work to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, milestones, and budgets.
Reviews and responds to submittals, RFIs, and other project correspondence.
Prepares and administers non-compliance notices for completed work not conforming to contract requirements.
Provides information to the public; investigate complaints and recommend corrective action as necessary to resolve complaints. Interpret and explain pertinent public works construction and department policies and procedures.
Understands and enforces compliance with engineering plans, specifications, bid documents, and contract provisions.
Field responsibilities include performing site visits, quality assurance inspection of the contractor's work to confirm compliance with contract requirements, project close-out punch list inspections.
Plan, prioritize, assign, supervise, and review the work of staff involved in public works construction management.
Provides guidance and training to less experienced staff; and participates in employee evaluations.
Assists Project Managers in the selection of bid procedures and contractors.
Assigns tasks and supervises/reviews work of Construction Manager(s).
Interacts with outside agencies to coordinate construction efforts between city projects and those of other entities.
