Somnium Hospitality Group is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Senior Corporate Accountant to support the accounting and financial reporting functions for a portfolio of hotel properties under management.
This role is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining compliance with company policies and accounting standards, and supporting hotel operations leadership with financial analysis and reporting. The Senior Corporate Accountant will oversee multiple hotel properties and assist with month-end close, budgeting, audits, payroll coordination, revenue reconciliation, and ownership reporting.
The ideal candidate has hospitality accounting experience, strong technical accounting skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
The Senior Corporate Accountant will perform and/or oversee accounting functions for multiple hotel properties, including:
Financial Reporting & Close Process
- Prepare and review monthly financial statements and supporting schedules
- Manage month-end and year-end closing processes
- Reconcile bank accounts, balance sheet accounts, and general ledger activity
- Review journal entries and ensure accuracy of financial data
- Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting to ownership and management
Revenue & Operational Accounting
- Review daily revenue reports, occupancy data, and cash reconciliations
- Monitor and reconcile hotel revenue streams, including:
- Rooms revenue
- Food & Beverage revenue
- Parking revenue
- Other ancillary revenue sources
- Review payroll entries, labor allocations, and benefits accruals
- Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable oversight
Budgeting, Forecasting & Analysis
- Assist with annual budgeting and forecasting processes
- Prepare variance analysis and financial performance reporting
- Support hotel operations teams with financial analysis and reporting needs
- Identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for operational improvement
Compliance & Internal Controls
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies
- Prepare and file occupancy, sales, and hospitality-related tax reports
- Support external audits, tax filings, and ownership reporting requirements
- Maintain strong internal controls and identify opportunities for process improvements
Leadership & Collaboration
- Work closely with hotel General Managers, department leaders, and operational teams
- Handle ownership requests promptly and professionally
- Train and mentor property-level accounting staff
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across the accounting function
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 3–7+ years of accounting experience
- Strong understanding of financial statements and operational reporting
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple properties, deadlines, and priorities simultaneously
Preferred Qualifications
- Hospitality or hotel accounting experience strongly preferred
- Multi-property accounting experience preferred
- Experience with ownership reporting and hotel management company structures
- Experience with hospitality systems such as:
- Aptech Accounting
- ProfitSword
- Opera PMS
- Mews
- Knowledge of hospitality industry financial metrics and reporting standards
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Hybrid work environment combining remote work and on-property support
- Ability to work extended hours during month-end close and audit periods
- Occasional travel to hotel properties may be required
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
