Unwell is seeking a strategic and highly experienced Business Affairs executive to lead all contract negotiations and legal across the company’s core business verticals. This person will play a strategic advisory role across all business lines of the company and will be the go-to expert for navigating complex agreements in podcasting, live events, talent partnerships, and film/TV development.
Key Responsibilities

Contract Management:
Oversee end-to-end negotiation, drafting, and execution of contracts across podcasts, live events, talent agreements, and film/TV options.

Deal Strategy:
Collaborate with executive leadership to structure innovative and scalable deals that support Unwell’s growth.

Talent Relations:
Serve as a key liaison with agents, managers, and legal representatives to secure top-tier talent and maintain strong industry relationships.

HR support:
Draft and review contracts including employment agreements, independent contractor agreements, separation agreements and vendor agreements.

Rights & IP:
Ensure proper acquisition and protection of intellectual property rights across all content formats.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Partner with creative, production, marketing, and finance teams to align business affairs with operational needs.

Compliance & Risk:
Monitor legal compliance and mitigate risk across all business activities, including licensing, distribution, and sponsorships.

External Counsel:
Manage relationships with outside legal counsel as needed for specialized matters.
Qualifications

8+ years of experience in business affairs or entertainment law, preferably within podcasting, digital media, or talent-driven content.

Deep understanding of entertainment contracts, including talent agreements, option/purchase deals, and live event licensing.

Proven track record of closing high-value deals and managing complex negotiations.

Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work closely with creatives and executives alike.

JD degree and active bar membership preferred but not required.
