Perform highly advanced (senior-level) research and analytical work of a confidential nature to collect, process, and disseminate a wide variety of data and information between and among jurisdictions to support and enhance the successful investigation and prosecution of individuals and groups engaged in criminal activities and support and enhance public safety.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Perform data entry and verification of data files.Use teletype and/or computer terminal to access driver licenses, criminal records, various agencies files, NCIC/TCIC and vehicle registration data bases to identify subjects for Midland County Sheriff’s Office and other law enforcement agencies as requested.Knowledge of criminal records and analysis and operation of analyst functions as they relate to criminal law enforcement, policies, procedures.Conduct assessments of criminal activity and public safety, as well as assessments of threats and vulnerabilities to the state’s critical infrastructure.Works under the supervision of the TAG Center - Permian Basin Administrator with limited supervision and extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.Research, read, evaluate, and analyze all reports, letters, booklets, magazines, periodicals, newspaper clippings, and all other materials received by the TAG Center - Permian Basin and the Midland County Sheriff's Office.Assists other divisions, sections, or personnel as needed or directed.Provide field investigators with specific information upon request.Collect, analyze, and summarize data collected and disseminate pertinent documents to aid investigators in criminal cases and enhance public safety.Prepare, compile, test, analyze, and interpret statistical data.Submit to the TAG Center - Permian Basin Administrator and investigators all intelligence information appearing to be of value to the agency, or to any official law enforcement agency for the prevention and suppression of crime.Advise and assist investigators requesting name checks by furnishing any known or related information that may be of assistance to the requesting investigator but not appearing in the particular area being reviewed.Prepare periodic analysis reports relative to crime developments, either as they are currently occurring, or as they are estimated to occur in the future.Perform liaison activities with analysts from federal, state, and local law enforcement personnel.Maintain close liaison with jurisdictions in regard to situations, incidents, and occurrences of law enforcement interest.Support state counterterrorism initiatives by conducting research and providing analytical assessments related to threats from domestic and international groups.Provide assessments related to the threats against and vulnerabilities of identified state critical infrastructure.Attend meetings and training related to criminal activity of violent offenders and gangs in order to assist law enforcement personnel in evaluating and sharing related pertinent information.Prepare charts and court displays for state and federal court.Develop and maintain sources of information by obtaining public information and information from other law enforcement agencies.Interact with the general public to obtain information related to suspicious activity or specific criminal activity.Participate in compiling data for specific files to be included in databases.Instruct and provide training to TAG Center - Permian Basin and other agencies with informative presentations regarding criminal activities and program responsibilities mandated by the law.Evaluate and monitor legislative bills and proposals.Compile information to be used in bulletins, articles, and publications for the benefit of the law enforcement community.Compose and/or complete memoranda/correspondence/reports summarizing documentation pertaining to identified subjects.Responsible for researching agency and arresting officer information for appropriate dissemination of jail call or TAG Center - Permian Basin collected evidence on subjects.Interacting with other TAG Center to collaborate on crime trends and investigations as appropriate.Be an administrator (allow access, remove access, set up and remove groups, moderate and respond) for TAG Center - Permian Basin wireless communications.Stand up, moderate and monitor TAG Center - Midland anonymous tip and information website.Be available to travel within the state to support TAG Center operations and training.Have reasonable understanding or TAG Center - Permian Basin grant and the ability to act intermittently for the the TAG Center - Permian Basin Administrator with some of these responsibilities.Work with Midland County Auditor and Purchasing Department to ensure payment of small items and monthly expenses.Collect and organize all reporting from TAG Center - Permian Basin investigators and ensure uniformity and completeness to turn over to prosecutors.Assist TAG Center - Permian Basin Administrator as a back-up for the TAG grant database (eGrants), set up meeting with Advisory Board, prepare the agenda, and take notes. Do the same with state, county and local elected officials, county and local department heads in the Permian Basin.Must possess the physical and/or mental abilities required to perform the essential functions of the job.Shall abide by all Midland County Polices, City and County Ordinances, and State and Federal Laws.This position will directly support Texas Anti-Gang Center - Permian Basin.Performs any assignment issued by chain of command and/or Sheriff.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Knowledge of criminal records and analysis and operation of analyst functions as they relate to criminal law enforcement of policies and procedures. Technology – Proficiency with Microsoft Office and appropriate levels of proficiency with utilized software and systems (e.g. CAPPS, SharePoint), and includes statistical software and tools, and be able to learn new software/systems.
