Role Summary:
Responsible for the physical, electrical, environmental, and safety operations of data centers and network rooms. Accountable for uptime, power continuity, environmental stability, fire safety readiness, and facility discipline. Hands-on operational role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate and supervise data centers and network rooms.
- Monitor and control temperature, humidity, airflow, and environmental sensors (smoke, water leakage, air quality).
- Manage power infrastructure including UPS systems, battery strings, ATS switches, power regulators, power distribution, and backup generators.
- Execute and document generator drills, power failover tests, and UPS/battery health checks.
- Operate and maintain cooling systems and ensure capacity meets load requirements.
- Oversee fire detection and suppression systems and lead emergency and fire-fighting drills.
- Enforce cleanliness standards, coordinate deep cleaning, and maintain physical room integrity.
- Monitor facility infrastructure, act as escalation owner for incidents, and perform root cause analysis.
- Participate in capacity planning and sizing for power, cooling, and space.
- Control maintenance schedules and report operational status and risks to the Head of Infrastructure.
Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical field is recommended.
- 5–8 years of experience in data center operations or critical facility management.
- Hands-on experience with power, cooling, fire systems, and environmental monitoring.
- Proven involvement in generator, fire system, and power failover drills.
Working Conditions:
- Regular physical presence in data centers and network rooms.
- On-call availability for critical incidents.
- Participation in drills, maintenance windows, and emergency exercises.
