Senior Data Engineer

JOB SUMMARY:

Senior Data Engineers are responsible for designing and creating the data warehouse and all related extraction, transformation, and load of data functions. He should be able to analyze and digest what a business wants to accomplish with its data and design the best possible ETL/BI process around those goals.

DESCRIPTIO N:

Data Warehouse /ETL

• Participates in developing the Data Models and Data Marts that comes from various source systems
• Using the data flow design, develops and maintains the ETL scripts that acquire data from various source systems to load information into the Staging Area, the Data Warehouse and Data Marts
• Identifies and develops opportunities to utilize objects and code where appropriate to reduce development effort and enforce consistent business rules
• Identifies opportunities for analysis and reporting solutions within the company
• Participates in evaluation and selection of Data Modeling, BI and DW tool s

Business Intelligence

• Translates business requirements into technical Data Models and Data Marts
• Understands key business drivers
• Contributes to the overall development of the BI initiative within the company
• Provides input and feedback to the vision of the overall BI Strategy
• Communicates BI strategy and concepts to other business users

Reporting & Drafting

• Clearly documents all development to company standards
• Works in a small team environment and supports team members where needed
• Assists in establishing new standards and processes for BI data modeling
• Clearly communicates task status, progress and problems to project lead

Requirements:

• Minimum bachelor’s degree in computer science, BIT, BBIT, or a related field, master’s degree will be preferred
• 3-4 years of experience in data engineering or a related field with additional exposure to Big Data methodologies
• Strong knowledge of RDBMS andSQL
• Familiarity with ETL tools like Talend, Informatica, SSIS, or IBM Infosphere Datastag
• Candidate with experience in Big Data technologies such as Hadoop, Cloudera, Talend for Big Data will be preferred
