As the Senior Data Engineer, you will play a key role in building and scaling reliable data pipelines and data models that turn raw data into trusted, actionable insights. You will partner closely with engineering and business stakeholders to identify gaps, design scalable solutions, and ensure data quality, security, and compliance through strong governance practices. Alongside hands-on coding, you will lead team members in designing and delivering data solutions.
General Responsibilities
- Architects, develops, and deploys cloud-based products.
- Ensures data integrity and availability, providing expert consultation on data-related inquiries.
- Analyzes data, processes, and systems to identify gaps, clarify requirements, and propose scalable solutions.
- Strong understanding of modern data platforms such as data warehousing, acquisition/ingestion, modeling, transformation, and consumption.
- Experience with databases and data movement technologies such as Databricks, AWS Redshift, Data Build Tools (DBT), and Data Vault (or equivalent).
- Proven ability to collaborate with both senior and junior technical staff, translate findings into designs, and drive implementation.
- Builds and maintains robust data transformation pipelines using Python and SQL.
- Designs and implements efficient data models and schemas to support analytics and reporting use cases.
- Partners with data engineers, architects, and analysts to gather requirements and deliver high-quality solutions.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to work with stakeholders at all levels.
- Develops and optimizes DBT models to transform raw data into trusted, actionable datasets.
- Demonstrates excellent problem solving using data and technology to drive statistical and root-cause analysis to support business insights and decision-making.
- Builds, tests, and maintains end-to-end database and pipeline architectures (reliability, monitoring, and performance).
- Ensures compliance with data governance, privacy, and security policies.
- Defines data quality strategies and incorporates robust testing into day-to-day work.
- Bachelors or master’s degree and/or equivalent professional experience in information systems, computer science. 5–8 or more years of experience in data engineering.
- Extensive experience with cloud computing.
- Proficiency in SQL and Python for data processing, query optimization, and reporting.
- Strong hands-on experience with DBT, including core features (models, tests, macros, snapshots/incremental patterns, deployments), data orchestration tools like Airflow, and Data warehouses like Snowflake, Redshift, or equivalent.
- 1+ year of production DBT experience preferred.
- Strong experience with designing and enhancing data models, warehouses, and/or data lakes.
- Expertise in ETL/ELT concepts, orchestration, and end-to-end pipeline maintenance.
- Strong communicator and collaborator with a clear ownership mindset; able to work independently.
- Proven ability to mentor engineers, providing technical guidance and code reviews and supporting career growth.
- Champion agile practices that provide a foundation for iterative product development.
