Salary Range: $100,000 – $130,000 (based on experience)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Data QA Engineer to help ensure the accuracy, reliability, and performance of enterprise data solutions. This role is focused on data validation, automated testing, data quality frameworks, and analytics verification across modern data platforms.

This is not a traditional UI testing position. The ideal candidate has deep experience testing data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes, database transformations, reporting layers, and BI outputs. You will partner closely with Data Engineering, Analytics, and business teams to ensure critical data assets are accurate, trusted, and production-ready.

The successful candidate will be highly analytical, detail-oriented, comfortable working independently, and passionate about building scalable quality practices.

Key Responsibilities: Data Testing & Quality Engineering

• Design, develop, and maintain automated testing solutions for data pipelines, transformations, and reporting environments.
• Create validation frameworks to verify data accuracy, completeness, consistency, and reliability.
• Develop advanced SQL queries to perform: Data reconciliation, Row count validation, Referential integrity checks, Duplicate detection, Business rule validation, Data transformation verification
• Build and maintain regression test suites for critical datasets, reporting environments, and analytics solutions.
• Establish repeatable test datasets and expected-result scenarios for automated validation.
• Investigate data discrepancies and perform root-cause analysis across source systems, pipelines, models, and reports.
• Document defects with clear technical details, supporting evidence, and recommended remediation steps.

Automation, Monitoring & Continuous Improvement

• Build automated quality checks integrated into modern development and deployment workflows.
• Support automated test execution through CI/CD pipelines and scheduled validation processes.
• Develop proactive data monitoring solutions to identify: Data freshness issues, Unexpected volume changes, Schema changes, Data anomalies, Quality trends
• Improve existing QA processes, tools, and frameworks to increase reliability and efficiency.
• Establish meaningful metrics to measure data quality, testing effectiveness, and issue resolution.

Collaboration & Technical Partnership

• Work closely with Data Engineers, Developers, Analysts, and business stakeholders to define quality expectations.
• Translate technical requirements into measurable testing strategies and acceptance criteria.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies including planning, refinement, standups, and retrospectives.
• Review SQL logic, automated tests, and validation processes to promote engineering best practices.
• Assist with documentation of testing standards, processes, and technical workflows.

Leadership & Ownership

• Lead complex data quality initiatives and drive improvements across testing practices.
• Serve as a subject matter expert for data validation and automation strategies.
• Mentor team members by sharing best practices and improving overall quality standards.
• Take ownership of high-impact projects requiring strong technical analysis and problem solving.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
• Senior-level (8+ years) experience in Quality Engineering, Data Engineering QA, or Data Validation roles.
• Strong experience creating automated tests for back-end systems, databases, APIs, and data workflows.
• Advanced SQL skills with the ability to analyze complex datasets and troubleshoot issues.
• Experience with one or more programming languages: Python, JavaScript, C# or Similar scripting/development languages
• Experience with automation frameworks or data testing tools such as: Great Expectations, Cypress or Similar testing frameworks
• Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and source control tools such as: Git, Jenkins, Azure DevOps or similar platforms
• Experience validating analytics/reporting environments using tools such as: Power BI, Tableau or Similar BI platforms
• Strong understanding of Agile software delivery practices.
• Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration skills.

Compensation

Salary Range: $100,000 – $130,000 annually

Final compensation will be determined based on experience, technical expertise, and overall qualifications.
