We have an exciting opportunity for a senior data scientist with a Ph.D. and optional software development skills to join an innovative, mission-driven team.

Role

Behaivior is seeking a senior data scientist with a Ph.D. for a part-time contract position with flexible hours, an adaptable schedule, and the potential for expanded involvement. As a senior data scientist with a focus on AI/ML, you’ll help shape the direction of the platform to better serve our customers. While not required, experience in software development is preferred. Your expertise, guidance, and oversight in AI/ML will drive Behaivior’s technical team forward. Your ability to make quick, informed decisions will be essential to supporting our data engineering and software growth, as well as the ongoing evolution of products that help care for others. You will work across a range of commercial, clinical, research, and other technical initiatives. You will also provide technical research writing support and serve as one of the primary liaisons for team members seeking technical research assistance. Work ethic and professionalism in this role are essential to meeting critical timelines that support the company’s continued growth.

Duties

* Lead the end-to-end development and deployment of machine learning models, focusing particularly on time series data

* Implement robust ML Ops practices, including version control, automated testing, and continuous integration/delivery (CI/CD) for ML projects

* Develop and implement monitoring and alerting systems to ensure the health and performance of deployed machine learning models

* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into AI solutions

* Architect and implement scalable and efficient solutions on Google Cloud Platform (GCP)

* Mentor and guide interns participating in our intern program, fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth

* Stay updated with the latest advancements in AI and GCP technologies to drive innovation within the team

* Assist with technical writing and research for grants, publications, white papers, and business planning

* Understand the vision of our complex technology ecosystem

* Depending on experience, contribute to software development for Behaivior’s mobile and web application

Required Qualifications:

* Ph.D. in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field

* Proven experience in deploying machine learning models to production environments

* Expertise in Google Cloud Platform, including hands-on experience with GCP services

* Strong programming skills in Python

* Solid understanding of and experience with applied machine-learning concepts and frameworks

* Expert in applied machine learning development and MLOps practices

* Understanding of cloud (GCP) infrastructure

* Generally be able to learn on the fly

* Comfortable with shifting tasks to meet deadlines

* Applicants must be U.S. citizens residing and working within the United States due to position-specific requirements

Preferred Qualifications:

* Experience collaborating with product, engineering, UX, and research team members

* Experience in the healthcare industry and working in a HIPAA-compliant environment

* Knowledge of DevOps practices for ML model deployment

* Familiarity with automated testing and continuous integration for machine learning projects

* Experience publishing/presenting research

* Extensive R&D background

* Grant writing experience

* Entrepreneurial and leadership experience

* Patent development experience

Desired Qualifications:

* Proficiency or experience in software development

* Experience in working with wearable or IoT devices and APIs

* Experience in database design and development

* Experience in software tools for Mobile

* Experience in API development and usage, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and Mobile (Responsive) development ideologies

* Familiarity with ReactJS, React Query, Typescript, Firebase, and Cordova.
