Job Title: Senior Design Engineer - Electrical
Job Location: Dubai, UAE
Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized university.
Registrations / Certifications:
- Registered Engineer with UAE Society of Engineers.
- Approved Engineer in Dubai Municipality (DEWA) - Mandatory
- Approved Engineer in Dubai Civil Defense( DCD) will be as an advantage.
- EMAAR Approved engineer.
- Certifications in IEC, LEED/ESTIDAMA, or other electrical design–related credentials (preferred).
Experience:
- 10 to 15 years of experience in electrical design for high-rise commercial, residential, mixed-use, and hospitality projects.
- Minimum 10 years of GCC experience, preferably in the UAE.
- Good knowledge of LV power distribution, lighting, emergency systems, fire alarm, ELV systems, and authority regulations (DEWA, DCD/ADCD, Municipality, etc.).
Computer Software Proficiency:
- Proficient in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office and Revit MEP will be added advantage
- Skilled in electrical design software such as ETAP, Amtech, Dialux/Relux for lighting design and load flow studies.
- Familiar with BIM coordination tools.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Develop detailed electrical designs (shop drawings) including LV distribution, lighting, small power, earthing, lightning protection, and ELV systems based on project specifications and applicable codes.
- Perform load calculations, short-circuit studies, voltage drop, and cable sizing using design software and DEWA/ADDC/SEWA guidelines.
- Identify design conflicts, constructability issues, and raise RFIs as necessary.
- Prepare design drawings, SLDs, schematics, and layout plans in coordination with architectural and mechanical disciplines.
- Ensure design compliance with local authority standards (DEWA, DCD/ADCD, DM, etc.).
- Select and specify electrical equipment such as transformers, generators, LV switchgear, SMDBs, DBs, cables, and protection devices.
- Prepare design basis reports, and calculation sheets for Design and build elements
- Coordinate with consultants, clients, and other disciplines (mechanical, civil, architectural) to resolve technical issues and ensure multi-discipline design integration.
- Review and prepare shop drawings to ensure conformity to the approved design intent and authority requirements.
- Identify Value Engineering and cost optimization opportunities without compromising safety or performance.
- Participate in BIM coordination meetings and ensure electrical services are clash-free and accurately routed.
- Support QA/QC team in reviewing testing and inspection procedures from a design compliance perspective.
- Ensure all design deliverables are properly documented, controlled, and updated in line with ISO quality procedures.
- Prepare as-built documentation, electrical design reports, and final submissions for project handover.
- Assist in commissioning plan preparation and provide design input for system performance validation.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of authority regulations, energy efficiency codes, and latest electrical design technologies.
