Senior Design Manager
London Walder Interior Design
London Walder Interior Design is seeking a highly experienced, organized, and design-driven Senior Designer / Project Manager to oversee projects from concept through completion while upholding the firm’s vision, standards, and client experience.
This role is ideal for a confident design leader who thrives in both creative and operational environments — someone who can deliver beautiful, layered, highly livable work; manage moving parts with calm precision; lead client and team conversations with clarity; and serve as a steady internal force for excellence and momentum.
You will work closely with the Principal and team to ensure projects move efficiently, presentations are exceptionally thoughtful and technically sound, and clients feel supported, informed, and expertly guided through a process that is structured, intentional, and rooted in a warm, emotionally intelligent approach.
Key Responsibilities
Project Flow & Office Operations Support
- Manage project timelines to keep work moving efficiently and on schedule.
- Break complex information into clear next steps for yourself and the team.
- Anticipate key meetings and milestones; coordinate scheduling in combination with the Operations Manager.
- Set internal due dates and design checkpoints to maintain momentum throughout the design development phase.
- Support project kick-offs by aligning the team on goals, priorities, budget, timeline, and strategy.
- Adapt to evolving processes and uphold a positive, solution-oriented presence within the office.
Design Presentation Leadership & Quality Control
- Develop and refine presentations with strong conceptual clarity, technical expertise, and thoughtfully layered design details.
- Ensure every selection earns its place visually and functionally, aligning with the firm’s nuanced, enduring aesthetic.
- Review all design details for accuracy, completeness, and quality prior to client delivery.
- Listen, interpret and integrate client feedback seamlessly while maintaining a clear and confident point of view.
- Deliver client-ready presentations with adequate time for internal review and refinement.
Client Meetings & Communication
- Support or lead client meetings with confidence, clarity, and alignment to the firm’s vision.
- Guide clients through the design development phase with emotional intelligence — keeping the process calm, decisive, and well-structured.
- Capture decisions clearly and define next steps after each meeting to maintain momentum.
- Anticipate client questions and proactively communicate updates to minimize follow-up.
- Navigate challenges with composure, presenting thoughtful, composed solutions.
- Maintain an enthusiastic, client-first tone that helps clients feel genuinely cared for — confident the details are being handled on their behalf.
Team Support & Leadership
- Act as an extension of the Principal’s vision and expectations for workflow and project progression.
- Support team members with guidance, feedback, and timely reviews to prevent bottlenecks.
- Step in where needed to maintain high standards across design, organization, and client experience.
- Help balance team workloads and shift priorities when necessary to meet deadlines.
Onboarding & Client Investment Support
- Assist in developing project scopes and estimated budgets during early planning phases.
